Frank Benso is the Founder/CEO of Gateway America. Frank ‘s career in the perishable food industry included several key executive positions, one of which was with Daymon & Associates, the largest domestic food brokerage company where he headquartered in Manhattan, New York City. In this capacity, Frank directed a team of satellite offices across the country to develop perishable private label programs for large retailers (Kroger; Albertson’s; H.E.B; Wegman’s; Costco; Walmart/Sam’s; etc.) in the perimeter departments of the store. Always looking toward technology to satisfy the need for “speed to market” along with increasing “shelf life”, “food safety” and the “preservation” of the food supply chain. The under utilized process of irradiation is the answer. Irradiation is the future of Food Safety as “critical control points” in a processors HACCP plans are not consistently sufficient to eliminate the bio burden to governmental acceptable standards for the consumer.
